During the early stages of COVID-19, public health communication became a UX problem as much as a medical one. As part of a Deloitte-supervised design challenge, I developed a concept for an NHS-focused platform combining symptom checks, live statistics, guidance, and anonymous reporting.
NHS COVID App
Concept UX/UI Project
Intro
My Role
Freelance UX/UI designer leading the project independently from research through final prototype.
Process
The interface used NHS blue as the structural foundation, reinforcing familiarity and trust. The onboarding flow focused heavily on emotional clarity: calm symptom illustrations, reduced friction, and information hierarchy designed to minimise anxiety while maintaining usability. The reporting system was intentionally framed around collective benefit rather than surveillance.
Why It Mattered
The project explored how interface design can help people feel more oriented during moments of uncertainty and public stress.
