IndieGames is Spain’s national indie videogame award — one of the few moments where independent developers receive large-scale visibility. The 2025 edition came to Málaga, bringing together hundreds of developers, artists, publishers, and players. The space needed to feel built for that community specifically: playful, expressive, and unmistakably rooted in game culture.

My Role
Freelance art director and graphic designer for the full event environment including stage design, signage, DJ booth graphics, photocall, prize materials, and venue branding.
Process
The visual language leaned fully into 8-bit aesthetics: electric blue, hot pink, pixel structures, and arcade-era contrast. A pixel-art castle mascot built from controller blocks became the anchor across the venue, scaling from repeating patterns to full-height stage graphics. The mixed-cap logotype (“inDie GaMeS”) carried the same spirit into typography — playful but controlled. The venue was treated as one continuous visual system. Stage panels aligned into a single composition, while signage, photocalls, and environmental graphics repeated the same pixel grammar at different scales so the experience felt cohesive from entrance to exit.
Why It Mattered
Independent games are often built under intense creative constraints. The visual identity reflected that same energy: inventive, handmade, and deeply connected to the culture it represented.
